Your printed ticket for the time entry as well as the website mentions to respect the Covid rules, clearly contradicting what the staff does to you!!!ĥ. I had to run down the stairs from the queue to deposit my cross over in the Coat check area and returning to the queue another member of the staff asked everybody to go near each other in what was a timed entry allowing you only 10 min inside the Reading room, then make place for another group. My small crossover 14 X 14 inches containing only my valuables was deemed too big by a woman and then said rudely 'I am not going to argue with you'. However you do not see them and in the Reading area everything is located near the walls with lots of staff and security staff. After all, the Library is famed for it's millions of books, printed and audio material, maps, manuscripts, legislation pieces available to researchers only. Why 1 star though? Because one receptionist advised us to join the small queue and visit the Reading area, normally allowed only to researchers who organise this well in advance. Lots of unruly kids in the other areas too with the security staff shouting at them as they kept going where they were not allowedĤ. A 10 years old girl decided to come in front of me and step on my toes, leaving indentations on the leather of my expensive shoes - an apology does not repair the leather though!!!ģ. I noticed on their map it showed the location of one of the Guthenberg bibles and after seeing the Book of Kels in Dublin I concluded is worth seeing this one too, since is bigger having 1200 pages. Inside, you pass the airport style security and then you can go around to visit the building. I advised one older African woman with a walking stick to go under the entrance to protect herself while her more able friend to remain in the queue behind us yet the old woman decided to make fun of me(!!!) and discuss it with the people in front of us in order to jump the queue - no shame!!!!Ģ. We booked this place 3 weeks in advance - you need to have timed entry to access it: there is only one queue for this yet people wanted to 'jump' the long queue all the time - it was raining lightly. Also is one of the few free remaining buildings to visit, besides museums as the Capitol needs booking months in advance, White House is not available to non-USA people etcġ. This is a simply gorgeous building with amazing architecture for which it is known and we keep returning to visit it every single time we are in the area.
